Rosie announced she is maxing out her campaign contributions to Al Franken as he begins his effort to become Minnesota's Senator in 2008.
As a life-long Minnesotan I would like to say: Rosie, please keep your New York and Florida money out of my Minnesota Senate race.
I am not a big fan of any of the campaign finance rules Congress has passed but I will say that each state has two senators whose job is to represent the people of that particular state. In the ideal world, local money would be spent on local elections. I would prefer my Senator felt beholden to Minnesotans, not friends and acquaintances from around the country.
In the mean time, all you conservative out-of-state people with money, please send money to the conservative candidate of your choice to counter the Rosie types trying to influence the outcome of this election.
The Minnesota seat, currently held by Norm Coleman (a Republican, but certainly not a staunch conservative, by any stretch of the imagination) will be the subject of the what may be the most expensive senate race in history. Stay tuned: the race will be one to watch.
